·       Donate to UCC Long Term Relief Efforts from Hurricane Helene and Milton. If you would like to donate to national United Church of Christ efforts in recovery from Hurricane Helene and Milton, you can go here for more information and to donate.

 

·       Adult Education - October 13 at 11:10 am in the Fellowship Hall.  Open Hearts, Open Minds:  A Q & A on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.  Our speaker is Hue Schlieu, the New Brighton DEI Coordinator.  Hue works with the community to lead, collaborate, and support DEI initiatives for city staff and New Brighton residents.  This program is sponsored by the Racial Justice Team.  

 

·       The Search Team is happy to share that to date, nine individuals have submitted their profiles for consideration. Applicants are from Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, and Wisconsin.  At this point, we anticipate initial interviews being scheduled in later October - early November. 

 

 

·       Our Special Offering for October is Neighbors in Need. The Neighbors in Need offering, which we will receive during the month of October, supports the UCC’s ministries of justice and compassion throughout the United States. This year’s NIN theme is “Mental Health Justice For All!” One-third of the offering supports the UCC’s Council for American Indian Ministries (CAIM). Today there are 20 UCC congregations on reservations and one urban, multi-tribal UCC congregation in Minneapolis.

 

·       Join Team UCCNB in the CROP Hunger Walk this Sunday, October 13.  Walkers can walk any portion of the 3.4 miles down St. Paul’s Summit Avenue.  The walk begins at 1:15 from Macalester Plymouth Church, 1658 Lincoln Avenue, St. Paul. Register or donate to Team UCCNB at  https://events.crophungerwalk.org/cropwalks/team/team-uccnb

If you cannot walk but want to support the walk, you can donate to Church World Service with “CROP Walk” in the memo line. Team UCCNB’s goal is to raise $500. 

 

·       Coat Drive - We are collecting new or gently used winter coats, snow suits or pants, and gloves, mittens, and scarves as well as new hats for the Social Concerns Network coat drive distribution.  Bring clean working items to Room 1 in the church by October 18 or contact Pat Yahnke piyahnke@gmail.com to arrange pickup.  Volunteers are needed on Saturday the 19th to help guests select coats.  Contact Pat Yahnke if you can help.

 

·       Voices United for Hope, Sunday, October 27 at 4 p.m.- Looking for inspiration in a season of uncertainty? Want to meet partners in faith from nine other UCC congregations? Needing a reason to hope in these days of division? Come to this event of singing, prayer, hope, chili and cornbread at St. Paul’s UCC on Summit Ave. You can find a flyer here with more details.

 

·       Trunk or Treat, October 27, following worship.  Decorate your trunk, come in costume, bring treats, or just come for the fun.  There will be a costume contest (everyone gets a prize), trunk or treating, a haunted hunt, pumpkin decorating, and kids get to vote for the best dressed trunk! 

 

·       Save the Date; Arts and Craft Sale Sat, Nov. 2nd and 3rd.

 

·       Save the Date; Fall Clean up of the building and grounds on Saturday, November 9th, 9am - noon. We need all hands on deck!

 

·       Community Night Wednesdays at 6 pm! Our evening consists of a prayer, a meal, a table activity for all ages, and closes with a blessing just before 7:00. If you haven’t had a chance to fill out a registration form.  Here’s the link. You will also find one on the back table in the Fireside Room.
